Programs for Teens

Celebrated annually in May, Asian Heritage Month commemorates the numerous ways that Asian Canadians have contributed to shaping Canada’s history. 

Come hang out and get creative in the new teen space at the Central Library. Drop by every Tuesday afternoon for a fun, new activity.

For teens ages 13-18.

Central Branch | Tuesdays, July 9 - August 27 | 2-4:00 p.m.

No drop-in on Tuesday, August 13th.

In this two-day program, you’ll create and paint your own Dungeon & Dragons character and embark on an adventure campaign. Beginners welcome. 

For teens ages 13-18.

Hastings Branch | Thursday July 25 and Friday July 26 | 2-5:00 p.m.

Registration for this program begins on Monday, June 17th. 

Who doesn't love an adorable frog a.k.a. the darlings of the Internet? Make your own needle-felted frog, complete with with a fun and fuzzy photoshoot with your new frog friends!

For teens ages 13-18.

Firehall Branch | Thursday, July 18 | 2-4:00 p.m.

Registration for this program begins on Monday, June 17th. 

Submit your writing and artwork and you could be featured in ink, a teen journal for writing and visual art published by Vancouver Public Library.

Join Indigiqueer artist and TikTok star Breanna Deis (@artbybreannadeis) and learn to bead a rainbow accessory for Pride week!

For teens ages 13-18.

Central Branch | Wednesday July 31 | 2-3:30 p.m.

Reading Buddies is a program that pairs teens aged 13-18 with kids in grades 2 to 4 who would like to improve their reading. We are looking for role models who can connect with children and help them become engaged with the library and develop a love of reading and learning.

Be a big buddy and earn community service hours! Buddies will help kids explore a different aspect of STEAM each week using LEGO, Osmos, and Spheros.

Hang out and have fun playing with STEAM toys! Check out and play with some Ozobots, Snap Circuits, and botanical LEGO. Collaborate together on challenges to win awesome prizes!

Champlain Heights Branch | Thursday August 8 | 2-4:00 p.m.

Registration for this program begins on Monday, June 17th. 

Whether you’re already part of the fan club or curious about the hype, come hangout with other teens while we celebrate all things K-pop! Make DIY bias bracelets, decorate idol photo cards, create playlists and take part in a fun, K-pop-inspired writing workshop led by Linda Cheng, author of Gorgeous Gruesome Faces.  

For teens ages 13-18.

Kitsilano Branch | Thursday August 22 | 2-5:00 p.m.

TAG stands for Teen Advisory Group – a place where you can share your ideas about the library’s teen programs, services and collections!

Connect with other teen artists, discuss creative projects, and learn new techniques from guest artists at this weekly in-person meet-up! Snacks provided.

Terry Salman Branch | Wednesdays, April 17 to June 5 | 3:30 -5:00 p.m.

Kick off your summer at the Central Library's rooftop garden! Collaborate with other teens and embroider tote bags, decorate tin wallets, and enjoy some refreshing summer snacks.

Be the first to read and review teen books before they’re released!

Join us on a trip to the Vancouver Art Gallery to discover the Copy Machine Manifestos: Artists Who Make Zines exhibit, followed by a pizza party and zine making workshop at the library.

Central Branch | Wednesday, July 10 | 11-3:00 p.m.

This is a unique day camp that connects youth who are passionate about reading and writing with well-known authors and illustrators.
