About Writing & Book Camp

How it started

VPL’s Writing & Book Camp was the first of its kind in Canada. It was founded in 2000 through the partnership of Vancouver Public Library, Simon Fraser University’s Master of Publishing Program, publishers, authors, illustrators and literacy advocates. Since 2001, the camp has been a proud project of Vancouver Public Library with support from donors.

What happens at Writing & Book Camp?

Each day at camp features a wide array of creative activities to help foster content creation in different formats, including different keynote speakers and workshops.

Campers have blocks of time to work on their writing and are given the opportunity to share their work with their peers on the last day of camp.
