Aren X. Tulchinsky

Aren X. Tulchinsky (he/him), the writer formerly known as Karen X. Tulchinsky, is a novelist, screenwriter, video editor and writing mentor. An out and proud member of the LGBTQ Community, Aren is a born storyteller—he was the kid writing short stories in math class.
Aren is the author of The Five Books Of Moses Lapinsky, a novel set in 1930’s Toronto, which won the One Book One Vancouver Prize, was a Toronto Book Award Finalist and was named One of the Top Ten Books about Toronto by the Toronto Star.
Aren’s collection of short fiction, In Her Nature, won the Vancity Book Prize. His first novel, Love Ruins Everything, set in San Francisco’s queer community and Toronto’s Jewish community, was released to critical acclaim, as was its sequel Love and Other Ruins.
A graduate of the prestigious Canadian Film Centre, Aren has written for and edited on numerous television series, including The Nature of Things for CBC. Aren’s short film Ms Thing has screened in over 50 film festivals internationally and won Audience Choice Award at QueerFruits Australia.
