Jules Koostachin
Storyteller in Residence
Jules Koostachin is Cree from the Mushkegowok territory of the Attawapiskat First Nation and currently resides in Vancouver, where she is working on her doctorate degree and a number of film and television projects. Throughout the years, she has worked with Indigenous communities in several capacities – combining social issues with her artistic ventures as a filmmaker and writer and academic pursuits as an instructor and scholar.
She is the creator of the television series, AskiBOYZ, airing on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network and shares the journey of two Cree teenagers reconnecting with the land and community. Koostachin's long list of credits also includes the documentary short film, Without Words, which follows survivors of the Holocaust and Canada's residential school system and draws from her experience as the daughter of a residential school survivor.
