I Heard My Mother call My Name

A mother calls her child to come indoors, but the narrator is captivated by the beauty of a summertime twilight where time seems to stand still. The immersive gentle prose pairs with beautiful illustrations by Laura Fernandez.

Lifelong Vancouverite Nancy Hundal works as an elementary school teacher-librarian and writer. I Heard My Mother Call My Name, an evocative prose poem about a child lingering outside at dusk, was her first book.

Laura Fernandez. Born in Madrid and living in Toronto, Fernandez is a singer, songwriter and award-winning illustrator.
