I smile, they beam, Eyes shine, teeth gleam.
We romp, right there – Down in the deep lair.
Slide down tree roots, Swing from the grass shoots.
I seek, they hide, All through the dark side.
Wild romp, beast romp, Underneath-the-street romp.
Growing up on the Prairies, Claire Eamer spent summer days exploring the riverbank, catching grasshoppers, and gathering wildflowers. She now lives on Gabriola Island, BC and writes both fiction and non-fction for children and young adults.
Thomas Gibault is a digital graphic artist and freelance illustrator from Montreal, Quebec. He has an affinity for creating creatures with character, and says that he now draws the monsters that he imagined in his closet when he was a child.
