At low tide, a hungry black bear ambles down to the beach and flips over rocks to find tasty crabs to eat.

Deborah Hodge is the author of more than 25 books for children. She specializes in writing engaging nonfiction for young readers. She also enjoys writing picture books, and has collected many awards including the Information Book Award of Canada, twice! She lives with her family near the mountains and ocean in Vancouver, BC.

Karen Reczuch’s career in art has led her in unforeseen and delightful directions. She has worked as an artefact illustrator for an archaeological expedition, as well as illustrating multiple children’s books such as Loon, and Morning on the Lake. She works from her home studio in Action, Ontario.
