Our writer in residence program promotes Canadian writing and literature through the creation of new work, mentorship of emerging writers, and various workshops and activities.

Through the storyteller in residence, VPL seeks to honour Indigenous cultures and to promote intercultural understanding and communication between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

On the last Wednesday of February, students across Canada and in several other countries wear pink shirts to stand up against bullying! Pink Shirt Day was started by 2 high school students in Nova Scotia in 2007. See this Resources for Young People page to learn more.
