Olympe de Gouges Age Mid 30s-40s Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Intelligent, witty, and idealistic, she uses her art to inspire change and fight for justice, particularly women’s rights. While she is courageous and creative, Olympe also struggles with self-doubt and the weight of her ideals, balancing moments of fiery passion with vulnerability and introspection. Good comedic timing, emotional depth required.
Charlotte Corday Age:20s Female Ethnicity: Open Fierce, intense, and deeply principled. A young woman driven by conviction, she is determined to make her mark on history by assassinating the radical journalist Jean-Paul Marat. Charlotte is bold, idealistic, and unwavering in her beliefs, yet she wrestles with the morality of her actions. Her passion and focus set her apart, making her both inspiring and enigmatic.
Marie Antoinette Age 30s-40s Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Larger-than-life, glamorous, and delightfully self-aware. The former queen of France, she is a complex mix of charm, vanity, and vulnerability. She is playful yet poignant, embodying both the absurdity and tragedy of her position.
Marianne Angelle Age 30s-40s Female Ethnicity: Caribbean Descent Intelligent, passionate, and resolute. A revolutionary from Saint-Domingue (modern-day Haiti), Marianne fights tirelessly for freedom and justice for her people. This grand and dream-tweaked comedy is about violence & legacy, art & activism, feminism & terrorism, compatriots and chosen sisters, and how we actually go about changing the world. It’s a true story. Or total fiction. Or a play about a play. Or a raucous resurrection...that ends in a song and a scaffold.
