Current Auditions

The Vancouver Public Library produces this Auditions List to serve the acting and theatre community and promote our drama collection. This list is extensive but not exhaustive and we do not list every audition in Metro Vancouver.

An up-to-date list of auditions is regularly emailed to subscribers of our Auditions listserv. To subscribe to this listserv, submit your email address to us at info@vpl.ca with the subject line “Auditions listserv subscription request”

    Ava Rose : ( 30 to 55 Female) Killaloe born and raised. 
    Ellen Pellham: ( 30 to 55 Female) A rambler in every sense of the word.
    Connie Gardiner: ( 30 to 55 Female) Ava’s childhood friend, now rival. 
    Tucker Dell: ( 20 to 30 Male ) Fresh out of culinary school. 
    Caleb Seaton: (30 to 50 Male ) The prodigal Killaloen, returning to be the town reporter. 

    Show description: A fairground in Killaloe, Ontario is home to the annual Wayne Rose Memorial Chili Cook Off, where Killaloe residents come each year to compete for the honour and the cash prize. The most determined of these is Ava Rose, who has tried (and failed) to win for sixteen years. This year, with the help of a new assistant, Ava returns to battle her former childhood friend and rival. If she can piece together her late father's missing Five Alarm Chili recipe she might just piece together the mysteries of her past.

    Rehearsals will begin April 1st and run on Sundays, Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 936 Bowron Court, North Van

    Notes

    - We will not be taking appointments for these auditions please be prepared to wait if needed. You will be asked to do a cold read from the script. 
    - Actors may submit self-tape auditions. If interested, please send your headshot and resume to kurtkaren@yahoo.ca along with role(s) interested in, and you will receive instructions and sides for your submission
    - Auditions will be cold readings from the script. Actors are encouraged to read the script on their own prior to auditioning. The director will NOT be providing copies of the script prior to auditions.
    - If attending in-person auditions, please bring your résumé and headshot. No need to email them prior to auditions.
    - All cast/crew must become members of Deep Cove Stage Society at the first rehearsal (there is no fee charged).
    - This is a NON-EQUITY production. All roles at Deep Cove Stage Society are volunteer positions.
    - Auditions are open to everyone regardless of background, race, gender, orientation, or ability, including those who are LGBTQ, BIPOC, two-spirited, white, cisgendered, and/or differently-abled. We encourage anyone to audition as we will be casting whoever is best for the role.

    • Three women, aged thirties to sixties.
    • Two men, aged thirties and late forties

    Please prepare a 3-5 minute dramatic monologue that reflects the role you are seeking. Script in hand is acceptable.
