Member of Parliament (MP) & Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Offices
- Those who are having difficulty navigating a government process or have encountered barriers to getting assistance from a government department may wish to contact their MP or MLA constituency offices. MPs & MLAs can take on a role similar to an ombudsperson (similar to an advocate), and their local offices employ staff to assist constituents. MPs & MLAs cannot directly change the law, influence courts, or change departmental processes, but they can often directly contact government officials to get information or assist with forms and other processes. Here is a list of common issues that MP offices may assist with. MLA offices may help with tenancy/housing issues, medical system or MSP issues, provincial tax, income assistance, or workers compensation.
