Programs

  • These early language and literacy workshops provide free professional development for early childhood educators (ECE), childcare providers, and adults working with young children in the community.

  • Learning English? VPL offers regular conversation circles for people interested in improving their English.

  • From popular feature films to documentaries that spark ideas and conversation – we’re showing the movies you want to see!

  • Learn how to trace your ancestry using the library’s digital and print collections.

  • Kids in Grades K – 7 can drop by participating branches anytime to write and illustrate their own book and we’ll make it available for other kids to read in the library!

  • We welcome groups from schools, child care centres, and other children’s programs in Vancouver to visit our libraries.

  • Through the storyteller in residence, VPL seeks to honour Indigenous cultures and to promote intercultural understanding and communication between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

  • Submit your writing and artwork and you could be featured in ink, a teen journal for writing and visual art published by Vancouver Public Library.

  • A series of haunted happenings at the Library, where we explore the human fascination with horror and the uncanny. Come hear scary tales, watch cult and classic horror films, hear discussions with authors and filmmakers, create your own horror flick and more!
