  • A series of haunted happenings at the Library, where we explore the human fascination with horror and the uncanny. Come hear scary tales, watch cult and classic horror films, hear discussions with authors and filmmakers, create your own horror flick and more!

  • Every June, National Indigenous History Month honours and celebrates the rich history, heritage, resilience and accomplishments of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples across Canada.

  • Learn how to better manage your money by increasing your financial literacy. 

  • On the last Wednesday of February, students across Canada and in several other countries wear pink shirts to stand up against bullying! Pink Shirt Day was started by 2 high school students in Nova Scotia in 2007. See this Resources for Young People page to learn more.

  • VPL recognises that play is vital to children’s learning. To support learning we offer a range of high-quality play elements including toys, puzzles and games at every location.

  • Join us to be inspired and learn more about supporting children’s early literacy skills in this full-day professional development conference for early childhood educators, childcare providers and adults working with children in the community.

  • Children in Grades 2 - 4 are matched with a Big Buddy teen mentor to practice reading aloud and participate in activities such as storytelling and games that make literacy fun.
